Talkel

Terms of service

Last updated 14 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Talkel when you use the Talkel app or website. By creating an account you agree to them, so please read them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

Who can use Talkel

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract under Indian law. You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything that happens in your account. One account per person.

What Talkel is — and isn’t

Talkel lets you practise spoken English with AI characters in realistic situations and gives you feedback afterwards. The characters, their replies and the feedback are generated by artificial intelligence. That means:

  • The AI can be wrong, misunderstand you, or say something unexpected. Feedback and scores are practice aids, not an official assessment or certificate of your English.
  • Nothing in Talkel is professional advice — not career, legal, financial, medical or immigration advice — even when a scenario is about those topics.
  • The AI characters are fictional. Don’t share sensitive personal information (such as ID numbers, passwords or bank details) in a conversation.

Using Talkel properly

You agree not to:

  • use Talkel for anything illegal, harmful, hateful or harassing, or to create sexual content involving anyone, or any content involving minors;
  • try to make the AI produce harmful content, or to extract its instructions;
  • interfere with the service — for example by overloading it, scraping it, probing for vulnerabilities, or getting around plan limits or security;
  • record or upload anyone else’s voice without their consent, or share another person’s personal data;
  • resell, copy or reverse-engineer the app, or use it to build a competing service.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

Plans and payments

Talkel has a free plan with a daily practice-time limit. Paid features (“Pro”), such as more practice time, choosing your partner and accent, and recording calls, may be offered as a subscription. Subscriptions bought in the Android app are billed through Google Play: the price, renewal and cancellation are shown before you buy, you can cancel any time in Google Play, and Google Play’s refund policies apply. We may change plans, limits or prices; changes to a paid subscription apply from your next billing period, and we will tell you in advance.

Your content

You own what you say and type in Talkel. You give us permission to process it — including sending it to our AI provider — only to run the service for you: holding the conversation, giving feedback, tracking progress and, if you choose, recording calls and remembering details. You can delete your content at any time, as described in our privacy policy.

The Talkel app, website, scenarios, characters and design belong to us. You may use them only through Talkel.

Availability

We work to keep Talkel running, but we can’t promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. Calls depend on your internet connection and on our providers. We may change, add or remove features.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time — see how to delete your account. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering Talkel; where reasonable, we will give you notice and a chance to download your data first.

Liability

Talkel is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on AI-generated content or feedback. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or ₹1,000 if that is higher. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer-protection law that cannot be waived.

Changes, law and disputes

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect; continuing to use Talkel afterwards means you accept the new terms. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Pune, Maharashtra have jurisdiction. Before going to court, please email talkel.app@gmail.com so we can try to resolve the issue.
